Scripture: He said to His disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks should come, but woe to him through whom they come!” (Luke 17:11).
Today’s Thought: A key stumbling block for many employees is lack of knowledge about important business matters. As managers, when we withhold information, we are a stumbling block for our staff.
Knowledge is power, and if we want to empower others we must share what we know. Explain your decisions to your staff, including the thought processes that went into those decisions. Not only will this help them understand why you make the decisions you do, it will teach them how to make better decisions themselves.
Training is another essential component of sharing knowledge. Each week, make a point of discussing one key aspect of your business or department. Help each person move from simple information gathering to comprehension and application of each important principle.
As you share knowledge, your staff’s performance will improve, leading to increased business success.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser, teach a righteous man, and he will increase his learning (Proverbs 9:9).
As managers, when we withhold information, we are a stumbling block for our staff.
