Scripture: Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father …. But he forsook the counsel of the elders which they had given him, and consulted with the young men who grew up with him and served him (2 Chronicles 10:6, 8).

When seeking direction for your business, surround yourself with senior, well-seasoned mentors whose perspective has been tempered by time. Listen to counselors who will tell you what you need to hear and not just what you want to hear.
Younger counselors often bring fresh, new, creative ideas which can be helpful and energizing, but don’t be swayed by your emotions. Evaluate every new idea in light of the wisdom of experience.
When listening to advise, balance the vision, exuberance, and creativity of youth with the levelheaded voice of experience and you will be amazed at how the quality of your decisions improves.
A wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel (Proverbs 1:5).
Evaluate every new idea in light of the wisdom of experience.
