Are you involved in conflicts at work?

Scripture: Then Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, nor between my herdsman and your herdsmen, for we are brothers” (Genesis 13:8).

Today’s Thought: Are you at odds with others at work? Do some of your coworkers rub you the wrong way? How do you handle colleagues with whom it is difficult to get along? The apostle Paul says, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men” (Romans 12:18). It might help to view your coworkers as members of the family. As with family, you might have your differences, but you work them out in a spirit of brotherhood and cooperation. After all, the workplace is really no place for engaging in personal contests and arguments.

Instead of allowing disagreements to become personal and boil out of control, focus your attention and mind on the specific work-related issue underlying the conflict. Identify the problem, ponder possible solutions, and then determine the best answer to address the obstacle.

When you focus the discussion on solutions rather than problems, it’s easier to keep in mind the ultimate goals: improving relationships and building your business.

When a man’s ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him (Proverbs 16:7)
