Are you regularly improving your work skills?

Scripture: Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men (Proverbs 22:29).

Today’s Thought: If you want to increase your value to your company and become a candidate for promotion, you must work continually to improve your performance and enhance your skills. The most successful people in business are lifelong learners.

Lifelong learners attend seminars to upgrade their training, take classes at the local college to broaden their understanding, and read business-related magazines and books to learn from the wisdom of others. In short, they look for every possible way to increase their knowledge, skill, and experience.

Make no excuse for not improving your work. Identify the three weakest areas of your job performance and develop a plan to address each one. Ask your boss for suggestions and support. Don’t be afraid of appearing weak. Desiring to improve is a great strength, and your boss will be happy to encourage your efforts.

As you diligently work to improve, your efficiency and effectiveness will increase and your value to the company will grow.

The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; and with all your acquiring, get understanding (Proverbs 4:7).
