Are you willing to confess your mistakes to your coworkers?

Scripture: Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed (James 5:16).

Today’s Thought: James 5:16 is often quoted to remind us of our need to confess our sins to other believers. The same principles holds true for admitting our errors and mistakes at work. When we’re honest about our shortcomings on the job, we benefit in three important ways:

•We lose our fear of looking bad. After all, everyone makes mistakes. We really only look bad when we try to cover them up. Coming clean takes all the pressure off.

•We create opportunities to learn from our mistakes and avoid a repeat performance. When we’re open about our errors, we can invite others to give us constructive input to help us learn and grow.

•We gain the respect of coworkers. Often, people know when we have messed up anyways, so why not acknowledge it? Don’t let pride stand in the way.

When we openly admit our mistakes and learn from them, others will soon follow our example. You will be amazed by the improvement in company morale and productivity.

He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but be who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion (Proverbs 28:13).

When we openly admit our mistakes and learn from them, others will soon follow our example.
