Scripture: Confess your sins to one other (James 5:16).
Today’s Thought: When we fall short of the mark, we must honestly confess to our customers. If we try to sweep our mistakes under the rug, eventually we’ll trip over the lump and make matters worse. Most people are willing to forgive an honest mistake, but dishonesty and excuses are reasons why customers leave.
When you confess a mistake, start with an apology, not an excuse. Next, ask the customer how you can make amends, whether by refund, replacement, or a price adjustments. Never ask your customer to bear the consequences of your mistake.
Further, determine what changes you will make to avoid the problem in the future. Share that commitment with your customer. Then follow through and implement those changes.
Confessing shortcomings and accepting full responsibility without making excuses will keep customers coming back, and your business will stay healthy.
He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion (Proverbs 28:13).
When you confess a mistake, start with an apology, not an excuse.
