Do you brag about what you’re going to do before you do it?

Scripture: Does a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Does a young lion growl from his den unless he has captured something? (Amos 3:4).

Today’s Thought: In every business, there are people who like to talk about their big plans the mountains they will climb, and the victories that are “just around the corner.” But if those goals are never reached, the braggarts soon lose credibility.

It’s great to be optimistic and confident, but don’t claim successes that have not yet been achieved. I’ve often heard salespeople claim that they’ve landed a big, new account, only to have the business never come in. It’s one thing to say that a prospect has made a commitment or is close to signing a contract, but until the fish is in the boat, it’s not caught.

Develop a reputation for delivering what you promise, and never promise more than you will deliver. Then when you roar, everyone will listen.

A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his words, and the deeds of a man’s hands will return to him (Proverbs 12:14).
