Scripture: For every breach of trust…[he] shall pay double (Exodus 22:9).
Today’s Thought: Not giving your boss timely and complete information may cost you twice not only might you suffer consequences at the moment, but you’ll also pay a price in lost credibility. Failure to report problems promptly is a breach of trust, which will undermine your boss’s confidence in you. Even failure to share positive news can backfire if your boss perceives that you aren’t keeping him or her adequately informed. Nobody likes to hear things through the grapevine that should have been reported directly.
Develop the practice of keeping your boss in the loop, especially when you encounter staff problems, product issues or an unhappy customer. Your boss may be a valuable resource for improving the situation and preventing further problems.
Let your boss hear the story straight from you, and you’ll maintain trust for long-term success.
A man has joy in an apt answer, and how delightful is a timely word! (Proverbs 15:23).
