Do you fulfill your handshake agreements as well as your contracts?

Scripture: If a man makes a vow…or takes an oath to bind himself with a binding obligation, he shall not violate his word (Numbers 30:2).

Today’s Thought: It used to be, when negotiating contracts and agreements, that a deal was a deal. Period. A person’s handshake was as binding as a signature on the bottom line. But some businesspeople and companies today are expert at creating and using legal loopholes to alter or avoid contractual agreements. Such practices make everyone wary and undermine trust in relationships.

Conduct your business according to the integrity of your word. When striking an agreement, keep the terms simple and understandable to all and follow through on every detail. It’s better not to promise than to promise and not deliver. Your word does matter.

Honor all your commitments. Your vendors will love you and your customers will keep coming back.

A good name is to be more desired than great riches, favor is better than silver or gold (Proverbs 22:1).
