Scripture: You shall not…place a stumbling block before the blind (Leviticus 19:14).
Today’s Thought: Current law requires employers to make reasonable accommodations for workers with disabilities, but Scripture has always instructed us to help those who are disadvantaged and to care for those in need.
Not only is caring for the disadvantaged biblical, it makes a lot of practical sense as well. Just because an individual has a certain disability doesn’t mean they can’t do other tasks extremely well. When we assist those with special challenges, we may obtain a star employee who has been overlooked by others.
Evaluate job openings with an eye toward making an opportunity available to someone with a disability. Consider the job requirements, look carefully at the person’s qualifications, and consider how the prospective employee might fit in.
If you look for ways to follow God’s principle of caring for the disadvantaged, you will obtain the staff you need and create loyal employees who will enhance your long-term success.
She extends her hand to the poor; and she stretches out her hands to the needy (Proverbs 31:20).
Scripture has always instructed us to help those who are disadvantaged and to care for those in need.
