Do you seek to resolve conflicts between coworkers?

Scripture: Blessed are the peacemakers (Matthew 5:9).

Today’s Thought: When people work closely together some conflict is inevitable. When a quarrel breaks out in your department, are you tempted to join in or choose sides? Why not play the role of mediator or peacemaker instead?

Successful mediation begins with trust. Nobody will listen to someone who hasn’t established a reputation for fairness and integrity. If you’ve earned the right to intervene, start by looking at the

facts of the situation. Ask clarifying questions, designed to elicit truth. Is one person’s

viewpoint more accurate?

There are always two sides to every story, and reality usually lies somewhere in between. If you can get the parties to consider each other’s perspective, you can usually find middle ground where agreement can be reached.

Keep everyone focused on the goal of reconciliation, not on personalities or past differences. Negotiate an agreement that respects the views of both sides and you will establish a reputation as a peacemaker.

Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear (Proverbs 25:12).

Nobody will listen to someone who hasn’t established a reputation for fairness and integrity.
