Have you ever made a mistake on a customer’s order because of a faulty assumptions?

Scripture: Through presumption comes nothing but strife, but with those who receive counsel is wisdom (Proverbs 13:10).


Today’s Thought: When we receive orders from our customers we can easily shortcut the process, making assumptions about what they want, need, or expect -- especially if it’s repeat business.


Safeguard yourself and your company by developing a consistent procedure for asking questions. Make sure you understand your customer’s requirements and preferences. Repeat back any specifications and clearly establish delivery dates and payment terms.


Confirm all the details and write down any special requests so you don’t forget. Pass along clear and complete information to your staff. Don’t just assume that they’ll know what to do.


Be diligent in following these steps and you will serve your customers well, reduce errors, and improve the delivery of your products and services.


Discretion will guard you, understanding will watch over you (Proverbs 2:11)
