Scripture: Reuben, you are my first-born . . . Preeminent in dignity and preeminent in power. Uncontrolled as water, you shall not have preeminence (Genesis 49:3-4).

Today’s Thought: Water is a powerful force for harm or good. Properly harnessed, it produces enormous energy and can transport tremendous quantities of goods downstream. However, when it overflows its boundaries it tends to run everywhere, wreaking havoc. The same is true of some business leaders. As long as their power is appropriately channeled, it produces great benefit; out of control, it brings trouble.

If you want to make a positive difference in your business today, sit back for a minute and determine where best to channel your efforts. Focus your energy and work in those key areas. Don’t respond to every wave and current that might distract you from your primary purpose; instead, move straight ahead toward your goal.
