Scripture: He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much (Luke 16:10).
Today’s Thought: Past performance is the best predictor of future behavior. When considering employees for promotion, evaluate their past work objectively. Have they established a reputation for meeting deadlines and honoring commitments? Do they always tell the truth? Do they sound the alarm appropriately when problems arise? Has the quantity and quality of their work always met or exceeded expectations?
Never promote someone who has not performed well in the past. Do not allow your personal relationships to influence your decision. Don’t succumb to pressure to fill an opening by promoting someone whose performance has been inconsistent. Don’t fall into the trap of believing he or she will improve with time. Require improvement in a person’s current role before you delegate additional responsibility.
Look to the past to make the best promotion for the future.
Like a bad tooth and an unsteady foot is confidence in a faithless man in time of trouble (Proverbs 25:19).
Look to the past to make the best promotion for the future.
